| MAAT CODE OF CONDUCT |
1. We shall seek TRUTH by learning & motivating ourselves to excel to
greatness in the water;
2. We shall seek JUSTICE by studying the history of swimming of our
ancestors & learning the challenges & obstacles which stood in their
paths which did and did not prevent them from obtaining great
accomplishments as swimmers;
3. We shall seek BALANCE by learning the importance of proper
nutrition & it’s impact on our development which will enhance our ability
to become skillful swimmers. As elders, parents, swimmers and
members of BSLAST, we shall refrain from the use of alcohol and any
illegal substance will could effect our behaviors, judgment and/or
attitude while traveling with our team;
4. We shall seek ORDER by studying and practicing various swimming
techniques which will improve our ability to become competitive
swimmers. All members of BSLAST shall participate in all activities
organized by BSLAST during our travels;
5. We shall seek HARMONY by accepting our oneness with nature &
the water. We understand that it is our harmonious relationship with
water which will allow us to propel to greatness as swimmers. We also
accept the responsibility of following the directions given by our elders,
coaches and parents and shall conduct ourselves accordingly;
6. We shall seek RIGHTEOUSNESS by exhibiting our greatness as
swimmers to defeat all myths, beliefs & racist views that people of
Afrikan Ancestor cannot succeed as swimmers;
7. We shall seek RECIPROCITY by following the leadership of our
coaches, our parents, our elders, our ancestors & our Supreme
Oneness, Who is called by many names. On this path, we know that we
will achieve & receive all positive & greatness in life mentally,
intellectually, physically and spiritually.
